I'm never one to back down from a challenge. Crazy or not, I will NOT be outdone. I'm convinced it's due to my only child status, but I digress. So when an acquaintenance casually mentioned that they were doing a 10k, I indirectly took it as a challenge, and a little too quickly said 'I'm going to do it too'. Seriously, what was I thinking?!?
So the date is set: October 13, 2012, I am doing the New York Rock & Roll 10k. There's also a half marathon, but let's not get too crazy. The last two months I've been working on establishing my base, to make sure that my running foundation is strong. This week I officially start training for the 10k, and I'm nervous, excited, and scared all wrapped into one. But the best part of this challenge is knowing that my daughter is proud of me. When I lace up my sneakers, she always says 'Mommy, go exercise?' (she's two, grammar is a work in progress).
12 weeks and counting. Here goes nothing! I would love to see some familiar faces on the pavement. What do you do to stay in shape? Does your family stand behind your fitness routine? Have you done anything crazy like challenge yourself to a fitness goal? I would love some feedback!
